HeatR

Homogenization of
thermal infrared satellite data

Remotely sensed Land Surface Temperatures (LST) are emerging as a key variable in addressing climate change and supporting applications like precision agriculture, water management, urban planning and disaster management. To effectively support these applications dense time series of thermal data are needed.

The HeatR project provides spectral and spatial homogenization routines for multi-sensor thermal satellite data to create comprehensive data sets for multiple applications. HeatR generates homogenized, analysis-ready Level-2 data from the Landsat (5-9) and the ECOSTRESS satellites giving users optimized spatial and temporal resolution. With the launch of the thermal ConstellR constellation, planned for early 2023, this underutilized data can be exploited for applications in agriculture, environmental monitoring and urban areas.
